1. Remember, the first step in consciousness is self - realization. They need to understand how serious a fire is and what damage can be done not only to the properties, but for their lives as well. You can make this realization, showing them pictures of houses and buildings that were devastated by fire, and perhaps pictures of real people who lost their lives in a blaze.

These images, along with some strong words will definitely open your eyes to the dangers of fire.

2. Now that you have their attention, you are sure they will be more receptive to information that feeds them. The key is to give them bits made of bits. You can start giving them small sheets rolled tricks that can send their cubicles. This cheat sheet should include the basics such as, emergency phone numbers, a map of your escape route and safety tips.

Just be careful not to crowd too much with this piece of paper as co - employees may lose interest in them.

3. Meet in small groups regularly. Note that regularly does not mean that often, because the last thing you want is to have your meetings interrupting operations. At a minimum you can make your meetings at least once every two weeks or once a month.

You can use these meetings to promote co - knowledge of the employee in case of fire, your fire department equipment and guide them to the meaning of the signs of health and safety that are scattered around the building. This is important because the money spent for your office equipment, and those signs mean nothing if your office mates do not know what they mean, or if they do not know how to use them.

4. Organize fire drills. Through them you will know if your officemates absorbed some of the facts and information you have given them. Drills are also a good way to have your co - workers have a feeling the real thing. This ensures that when a real fire is really going on, everyone knows exactly what to do.
